XXIV CONGRESO DE AVICULTURA
DE CENTROAMÉRICA Y DEL CARIBE

Será para nosotros como Comité Organizador del XXIV Congreso de Avicultura de Centroamérica y del Caribe un gran gusto y gran honor darles la más cordial bienvenida a nuestro país Guatemala, país de la eterna primavera y al Congreso en la Ciudad de Antigua Guatemala, que se llevará a cabo del 9 al 11 de noviembre de 2016.

Nos sentimos honrados por haber sido seleccionados en esta ocasión por la Federación de Avicultores de Centroamérica y El Caribe – FEDAVICAC, como sede de su Congreso. Estamos entusiasmados, planificando, concretando y preparando minuciosamente cada una de las actividades para brindarles un completo y enriquecedor programa científico, una exhibición comercial con los principales proveedores de la industria avícola, así como oportunidades sociales y culturales para estrechar lazos y establecer contactos y amistades perdurables.

La ciudad de Antigua Guatemala o Santiago de los Caballeros de Guatemala, en donde se realizará el congreso, fue nombrada por la UNESCO Patrimonio de la Humanidad, es una encantadora ciudad en el altiplano de Guatemala, a unos 45 minutos de la capital del país, por estar situada a 54 Kms. de la misma, con una población de 45,393 habitantes, es una hermosa ciudad colonial, fundada el 10 de Marzo de 1543 en el Valle de Panchoy, por el español Francisco De la Cueva, que por más de 450 años ha conservado su hermosa arquitectura renacentista, que data del período colonial español, característica de las ciudades que surgieron en la América.

Es una verdadera joya colonial del nuevo mundo, que guarda la imagen legendaria de una típica ciudad española del siglo XVII, con sus calles empedradas y opulentas edificaciones de piedra, las fachadas de sus casas e iglesias y su clima, la hacen única en el mundo.

Antigua Guatemala es probablemente el lugar más visitado de Guatemala, goza de una vida cultural muy activa, galerías de arte, museos, finos restaurantes y hermosos hoteles, algunos ubicados en antiguas construcciones coloniales como el Hotel Museo Casa Santo Domingo, sede de nuestro evento.

XXIV POULTRY FARMING SUMMIT OF
CENTRAL AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN

It is a great pleasure and honor for us, as the Organizers’ Commit-tee of the XXIV Poultry Farming Summit of Central America and the Caribbean, to welcome you to our country, Guatemala, country of eternal spring, and to our Summit in Guatemala City, which will be held from November 9th to the 11th of 2016.

We are honored for having been chosen by the Poultry Farmers Federation of Central America and the Caribbean (FEDAVICAC, by its acronym in Spanish) as the location for its Summit. We are enthused, planning and preparing in detail, each one of the activities. We want to provide you with a complete and enriching scientific program and commercial exhibit with the main suppliers of the poultry industry, as well as social and cultural opportunities to extend your network and create durable friendships.

The city of Antigua Guatemala, or Santiago de los Caballeros of Guatemala, where the summit is going to be held at, was declared as a World Heritage site by UNESCO. It is a charming city in the Guatemalan highland, located 54 kms. away from the country’s capital, which is why it is about 45 minutes driving distance from it. Founded on March 10 of 1543 in the Valley of Panchoy by Francisco de la Cueva, this beautiful colonial city has a population of 45,393. For over 450 years it has conserved its beautiful renais-sance architecture from the characteristic Spanish colonial era of other cities that were founded in the Americas.

It is truly a colonial jewel of the New World, which keeps its legendary image of a traditional Spanish city of the XVII century, with its cobbled stone streets and opulent stone buildings. The facades of its homes and churches, as well as its weather, make it unique in the world.

Antigua Guatemala is likely to be the most visited tourist place in Guatemala. Cultural activity is intense. Art galleries, museums, fine restaurants and beautiful hotels -sometimes inside old colonial constructions, such as Hotel Museo Casa Santo Domingo, our event venue- can be found there in abundance.

TEMPERATURA PROMEDIO DURANTE EL AÑO:

Regularmente en Antigua Guatemala, durante la madrugadaen el mes de noviembre se manejan las temperaturas mínimas de 12 grados centígrados hasta 28 grados centígrados en el día. Desde la media mañana hasta las tres de la tarde, se manejan las temperaturas máximas, y después empieza en descenso lento la temperatura. Por lo general las noches son frescas, pero no cálidas.

IDIOMA: El idioma predominante es el español, seguido del inglés.

MONEDA: La moneda nacional es el Quetzal, sin embargo por la alta afluencia de turistas, en la mayoría de establecimientos reciben directamente Dólares Americanos.

HOTELES: Antigua Guatemala es un sitio de alta afluencia turística, cuenta con capacidad suficiente para alojar a los participantes del Congreso. Sin embargo, se sugiere gestionar su hospedaje con anticipación.

AVERAGE TEMPERATURE THROUGHOUT THE YEAR:

Typically, during the month of November, Antigua Guatemala has minimum temperatures of 12 degrees to 25 degrees centigrade from the early morning until later during the day. Beginning about half through the morning and up to three of the afternoon, the maximum temperatures are reached, and then temperature slowly drops. Generally, nights are mild cold, but not warm.

LANGUAJE: Predominantly Spanish, and English afterwards.

CURRENCY: National currency is the Quetzal. However, most businesses take American Dollars, due to the sizable tourist clientele.

HOTELS: Antigua Guatemala is a major tourist destination and has enough accomodations for the congress participants, but it is suggested to book your hotel in advance.
